New Around Here
I'm seriously considering the next generation of this router. This one looks really smart and they included power settings unlike the Netgear R6300. The next genertion is supposed to include a USB 3 port which, I think, is worth waiting for.
For me, CLEAR, www.clear.com with a clear spot would be a nice backup network, You can basically pay for time on an as needed basis. Day, week, month etc.
I have the Clear Spot Voyager, no account, but managed to connect to the Clear website. I probably should post the configuration page.
It basically functions as a wireless Hotspot. I didn't see any support for it.
I figure, I could turn the wireless signal to wired with a D-link repeater/ap/ etc that I already own and get the wireless signal onto Ethernet.
If I had to, I was thinking of putting a hub/switch on the WAN side.
I was wondering then if I had 2 gateways on the WAN port and subnetted by private network then created another default route for 0.0.0.0 with a larger metric, would that act as a backup gateway?
I might be able to post some CLEAR configuration pages after I charge the adapter etc.
I think for the most part, you can think of this question as if one had a cable and DSL connection and wanted to use the DSL as backup.
I did read in the forums that backup and balancing may become a future option.
The thing is with CLEAR, you only have to PAY for the backup on an AS NEEDED basis.
Thanks,
