One easy way to test would be to try upgrading or uploading the ovpn config file using a mobile device like a tablet or a phone.

I was thinking about formatting my main pc anyways.

And yes, most probably its anti virus related. All the update-upload from file problems are now gone.

Dump the AVG on the PC's. Come back to Asuswrt on the router. Simple, stable and safe.
