Power adapter is unrelated. You can use matching specs non-Asus power adapter, the result will be the same.

Oh, I was talking about the possibility that the units are worldwide identical (based on worldwide usable power adapter) and the difference is made just by firmware.
Lets forget this, you already mentioned that a regional code is somewhere mentioned on the main unit.

The devices are identical hardware worldwide, but the software (including settings) they run is different. The firmware you download from Internet is just part of this software. Other parts are pre-loaded and configured by the manufacturer and not user accessible. The result of this - specific model even with exactly the same number will perform differently in different regions. The allowed power and channel selection will be different.
