Can I install Asus firmware over existing Merlin firmware?

I purchased the RT-AX86U about a month ago and installed Merlin firmware v 386.4. The Asus app shows a new Asus firmware available. What happens if I install that? Does it overwrite Merlin?

It's probably telling you there's a new version of Merlin available... which there is - 386.5

It says version 3.0.0.4.386_5_0 is available. Is that Asus or Merlin? Wasn't sure if the app picked up Merlin updates
