Can only connect to internet on AC3200 via Automatic IP

New Around Here
Hi,
I am new so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

I just replaced my AC68U with a new Asus AC3200 that I received yesterday. I tried to connect using the wizard but could not connect to my internet connection. As I have a DSL internet connection my ISP had provided me with a ID and password so I was using PPOE to try to connect.
I tried multiple times but could not connect.
I was about to give up but tried using the wireless method mentioned by Asus on youtube. I was able to connect to the net but upon checking found it was only through "Automatic IP" and the system did not ask for my internet ID and password.

The net is up and running but on Automatic IP. I am not sure if I should continue or not this way. Can anyone guide me and let me know if I have to change any settings or if I missing something that is causing me to not connect through PPOE.

You might need to set the MTU to a smaller value if your DSL has a header. Call you internet service provider and they should tell you how to set it all up. I would try using a MTU of 1478.
