can rt-n56u be updated to Merlin WRT?

Present f/w is 3.0.0.4.380_7378. Can this be updated to Merlin? Some other f/w? getting very frustrated trying to set up a DDNS with this f/w.

Merlin's firmware is not compatible with the RT-N56U because it doesn't have a Broadcom processor.

Maybe OpenWRT, Padavan or DD-WRT.
