Can you use the PCE-AC66 PCIe card without utility software?

Hi
Will shortly be receiving my Asus PCE-AC66 PCIe card to use with my Cisco EA6500 router. Once question: on the Asus support site for the PCE-AC66, its lists the driver and utility software. Can i use the card by installing the drivers only (will be using 5Ghz AC wifi) or will i need to install the utility software as well? I normally tend to stay away from 'utility' software as i find it to be bloatware.
Cheers :)

I have the PCE-AC66. I believe you will be able to use just the driver - the utility software seems to just be an ASUS wifi interface built on top of the Windows one like other wireless NICs have. It's more of a convenience as it does all the reporting on the status of the card in one window.

Correct you can use only the driver however the utility does have some tweaks, like power for example.

Yes. I have closed the utility and the adapter still operates in Network & Sharing in Windows 7.

Thanks, will stay away from the utility software then :)
