Can't upgrade to 3.0.0.4_376.49_5 from 49_4

When I try to upload the TRX file from the _5 release on my ASUS RT-AC68R, I get a message that it was unsuccessful - it may result from an incorrect image or error transmission. The ZIP file tested successful when extracting the TRX file from it.

Any suggestions?

What do you have connected to the router while attempting the upgrade? If you have a USB drive connected you might want to try with this safely removed.

Thanks! I actually do have a USB drive attached. I'll try disconnecting it.

It seems like the USB drive is automatically dismounted when I attempt an update. After it fails, the drive is disconnected. Rebooting the modem mounts it properly again. Trying the update again causes the USB drive to dismount again so it seems like there's definitely a cause-effect here.

But even when it's not mounted the update fails with the same message.

Remove the USB devices and reboot the router too.

Physically Detach the USB cable from the router with your two hands.
