Charter ISP dirty/bad signal?

2Rattled

New Around Here
Hi all, I hope I put the post in the right place, just joined today.
I pay my ISP (Charter) for 30MB and was using (reverted back to) an old Ambit cable modem DOCSIS 2.0. To get the speed I am paying for I tried to upgrade to an ASUS N56U wireless router first but it slowed me down to a crawl. So, I bought a Motorola SB6121 cable modem and installed that, had Charter activate it, and the same thing... very slow. Charter said it was the Motorola, Motorola said it was Charter's signal. I've tried both wired and wireless and 2 different computers. Strange thing is that some pages will open, and fairly easily but most won't or will take a very long time to do so. I'm thinking it points to Charter but they ran cable from the street to the drop in the house less than 2 years ago. Another weird thing is that the old Ambit, paired with an older Trendnet wireless router could access all the pages and fairly quickly. I started this project to help my son who is a gamer get a better/faster signal at his PS. I'm off to BB to return the Motorola SB6121 for another one but I'm betting I have the same problem with the new one. Help.
