I just opened a new box of 2960-X series switch. The switch is behaving abnormally . It is rebooting

I took the output of the error. It will be really helpful for me if you guys ever faced this issue.

Another issue I am not able to console into it using the secure CRT. putty is working but suddenly the connectivity loss is there.

It will reconnect again if I reopen the putty. I am having 8 new boxes of the same device.

Below is the output error.

"POST: Failed PortPhyLoopback Packet Test asic_index 0 port_hardware_index 2

POST: PortASIC Port Loopback Tests : End, Status Failed

Error: ASIC/PHY POST failed. Cannot continue.

It sounds like an ASIC is bad and as such, requires an RMA.

You could force the switch to boot into ROMMON and see if you can push the code to it again but that's a long shot as a fix.

This is almost certainly defective hardware. The latest software is 15.0(2)EX5, one rebuild newer than what shipped on the switch. The list of fixes between the version you have and the latest doesn't mention any corrections in this area.

You say you bought several switches? Try a second one and see if it works better.
