Connection dropping issue with L2TP on Asus RT-87U

Hi guys!

I have an issue with my router with L2TP enabled, and that is the connection keeps dropping after a certain amount of time. I do not face the same issue with OpenVPN (using merlin). L2TP gives me great speed, and that is the reason I want to keep using it, but this connection dropping issue is a problem.

Is there any way to mitigate this?
