Just wondering.

When i choose Client 1 in vpn settings, Core 2 will reach approx 99% and approx 40% on core 1 and will reach about 180mbps on a 200mbps line. (speedtest)

When i upload the same vpn config to Client 2, Core 1 will reach approx 99% and core 2 will reach aprox 30% but now with only with a approx 100mbps thruput. (speedtest)

In short, same configs, different clients to choose from, but also slower output speeds when i choose client 2. (didnt test the other 3 clients)

Question: Is core 2 in the U86/2900 more capable of encrypting and decrypting vpn configs then core 1?

Maybe already known, but couldnt find it on the forums

Thanks!

OpenVPN is a single threaded process so Merlin has deliberately used the second core for the first VPN instance in an effort to spread the load. That's because there's other single threaded processes that tend to use the first core rather than the second. It's an imperfect solution, but it's the best that can be achieved under the circumstances.

Thanks for your explanation, I was under the impression that both cores working together, managing the vpn to encrypt and decrypt as it shows both having much more workload when downloading at full speed. Good that i asked. I also tested Client 3 and is working fast as well. like client 1. I can only imagine Client 4 will be slower and 5 wil be as 1 and 3, meaning faster then 2. I dont think i will be needing 3 vpn's working at full speed and having 3x 200mbps in the near future, if thats even possible. Again. Thanks, makes sense to me!
