Curious - Amusing Result

Decided to test performance in moving files from my desktop to my laptop - both are hooked up via hardwire connections. So, in preparation, brought up the GUI and went to Traffic Manager/Traffic Monitor and clicked on the wired interface. I then started the file copy operation. The traffic manager gauge barely budged. Was wondering what is going on here. Then the amusing part came to me.

In my setup, I have three hardwired devices in my office - and they are all connected to a small 5 port switch & it is the switch that is connected to the router. So, traffic from my desktop to the laptop never hits the router - just traverses the in office switch. Seems obvious when I started to think about it, just didn't think about it up front.

Also, if you have some havy file copying going on, e.g. a backup job, the GUI sometimes is not responding.
If you connect your LAN cabels not on the router but on a switch the router is always responding.
