Did I upgrade my RT-ac68U firmware wrong?

Okay so when the new firmware came out about 2 week's ago I had gone into my routers settings and clicked check for new firmware and it downloaded and then l rebooted the router manually like it said to.

Now a few days ago I read that after updating the firmware on your router, Asus said to factory reset it after it installing the new firmware. So should I factory reset my router now or leave it as is?

I would do the factory reset. I am sure Asus had a good reason to include that in the change log.

Alright I guess I will, but does that mean my devices will lose thier ip address's and gain new ones, even after I enabled DHCP reservation?

Not sure about that. My router seems to assign the same ip to each device even after reset. You could always just manually assign ip's to your devices if your concerned about that.

Okay so I pushed the Reset button on my router for 5 secs, and after it rebooted all of my setting were still there. Is that good or did I do something wrong again?

Do it this way...

To reset using the WPS button do this.. Turn your router off wait 30 seconds, now press and hold the WPS button as you power up the router hold that button for 15 seconds and release the WPS button let the router fully boot you should be back to factory default. User name:admin password:admin

Just got my RT-ac68U last week. I upgraded the firmware from the web interface while setting it up, but that didn't mention any reset. Everything seemed to work ok, but occasionally wanduck would start redirecting all http requests to the router home page, and only a reboot would fix it.

A full reset as described above fixed the problem. Leaving this here to pull people to the solution.
