Direct pihole upstream DNS to RT-AC86U?

Is it ok to direct pihole upstream DNS to use DoT/DoH which I had in RT-AC86U running merlin 384.16?

That should be OK as long as you never set WAN DNS to the PiHole IP, creating a loop.

You can also install Stubby on the Pi and have Pi-Hole use it to do DoT and DNSSEC. For me it seems to work better than Stubby on the router.

Don't forget to setup conditionals forwarding to get pi to see devices.
