ok, guess i will continue to use uorigin then. zzzZ.Expected behavior. Please use the subforum search to see the many past discussions on trying to block YouTube ads with both Diversion and other addon's. The issue has been well discussed. Best way to block YouTube ads is with a browser extension. Or dedicated apps on the playback device.
Currently blocking Youtube ads using uBlock Origin browser plugin and through SmartTubeNext on android streaming devices connected to TV's. Only ads not blocked, obviously, are the ones a channel talking head included right in their video or live broadcast (those "lets take a moment to thank our sponsors..." type ads). Others though that Youtube places throughout the videos are blocked. Diversion, Pi-Hole and other DNS based apps/services generally cannot stop YouTube ads because the ads are hosted by Youtube not a third party where the DNS request could be filtered, blocked or memory holed. You can't block You Tube adds anymore. If you are able to block them they will shortly cut you off.
yah.. activated back ublock on my browser alreadyCurrently blocking Youtube ads using uBlock Origin browser plugin and through SmartTubeNext on android streaming devices connected to TV's. Ghostery?yah.. activated back ublock on my browser already
Ghostery started out more of a tracker blocker than ad blocker. Its a good browser extension (addon) to use in conjunction with the uBlock Origin extension (addon).Ghostery?
Because it has a built-in ad/content blocker like uBlock OriginBrave browser blocks Youtube ads without any browser extension/addon installed.
Ghostery isn’t needed if you’re using uBlock correctlyGhostery started out more of a tracker blocker than ad blocker. It’s a good browser extension (addon) to use in conjunction with the uBlock Origin extension (addon).
What do you mean obviously? Talking head ads in Youtube videos can be blocked using extension SponsorBlock. Like indicated obviously those two programs I mentioned, uBlock Origin and SmartTubeNext, do not block certain ads while they do block others. Its the same with many similar Youtube ad block programs and browser extensions. It is a running battle against both YouTube and the content creators as they find ways to inject ads into the media content. SponsorBlock appears to (in part or whole) rely on users reporting those ads other programs may miss, while useful for popular content, or old content, might not be as useful on less popular content or new content until someone takes the time to report the ad spot. What do you mean obviously?
SponsorBlock works very well for content I watch. Just mentioning it in case you were unaware, since you sounded like you thought that was obviously not blockable.Like indicated obviously those two programs I mentioned, uBlock Origin and SmartTubeNext, do not block certain ads while they do block others. Back on topic, the issue of trying to use Diversion to block YouTube ads, and why it has limited effect, is well discussed.
