i wonder if blocking YouTube ads is as difficult as we've been thinking: I use a suite of addons on my kodi HTPC and the dev has included yt-dlp as an option to be able to watch trailers without having to sign in to a youtube account. I don't know how it works, tbh, but i see it's available as a community addon to my Home Assistant as well, and after a tad bit of digging, it's available in entware too. I'm not suggesting this is going to be the ultimate solution to this longstanding point of contention around here, but I'd like to suggest people like
@thelonelycoder and
@Viktor Jaep and possibly even
@Martineau take a look, discuss and potentially put their heads together on it and see if they can perhaps come up with a functional or workable solution. Fellow furniture-clubbers who code - is it something you might be willing to take a look at?
