I would like to use my Asus RT-AC56U to redirect DNS queries from specific devices, with fixed ip's, to DNS ip's of my choice. All devices on my LAN have ip's 192.168.2.xxx . The Internet is reached via a cable modem router. My Asus RT-AC56U is in Access Point mode. I don't want it using NAT to created two different "zones". I would like to use dnsmasq and/or DNS Filtering that is available on the Asus in order to act as a DHCP server and filter to all my systems. Can this be done? It seems that the only way of doing this is to put it into its default router mode and then the DHCP and other abilities become available.
The other option would be to run these functions on a Synology NAS on the network but this seems harder. I realize that turning off NAT and just having the Asus acting as an AP is somewhat overkill but I do not want to put my ISP cable modem into bridge mode. It's working great as is.
Any tips would be appreciated.
