DNSCrypt VS DNS Filtering

Guys please can someone tell me if using DNS secure query with DNSCrypt is same or different with the GUI DNS Filtering. Reason is that I had both with the Adblock with host files thing and as I understand enabling DNS Filtering was blocking the Adblocker. I have disabled the DNS Filtering but wanted to know if DNSCrypt will do the same as DNS Filtering

thanks

As far as i know...
DNSCrypt =It works by encrypting all DNS traffic between the user and OpenDNS.

Dns filtering = allows, blocks, filters access to content via predetermined whitelists/blacklists.
