Does Lets Encrypt work in Access Point (AP) mode?

I have switched my Merlin Asus RT-AC1900P to operate in Access Point mode. Using firmware 384.4_2 and did initialize after switch.

Everything is working ok as far as access, etc.

On Administration-System-Local Access Config:
Authentication method: Both
under Installed Server Certificate it has

Clicking takes me to the WAN-DDNS tab.
I enable the DDNS client, set up my ddns server (domains.google.com) with all my information:

Apply, and it says for server certificate status: Updating...

This had all worked when I was using it as a Router, so I am thinking that in AP mode it does not?

Notice that the DDNS update is not happening when I check google domains (my wan ip has changed in the meantime, so know that it isn't updating.)

I am thinking the ddns update part is not starting up in AP mode?

Correct. You cannot use Let's Encrypt or DDNS while in AP mode.

I assumed that was the case. I used the same tab to import a locally generated Cert from my local CA for https and it works.

One thing I noticed, is that even with just a local cert the router is making udp/port 3478 and 3479 connections to Taiwan 210.65.113.163 and 210.65.113.164 at reboot.

That was why I thought maybe it was trying to work the Lets Encrypt.
