Does updating merlin remove installed packages?

Sorry for the noobish question,
Does updating merlin removes / changes installed packages such as AMYM or DNSCrypt?

In a "point release" (minor update) scripts and everything else should continue to work, but the more major the change, the less likely it is that scripts won't get broken. So 388.2_2 to 388.4_0 is likely to work but 386.7_2 to 388.1_0 would have been less likely.
The key is usually to prepare in advance, so you have the system backed up and can quickly revert if you need to - it happens!
