double NAT and 68U in AP mode Bell Modem

Hello everyone.. I know there are threads and I have read a few but I can clean this double NAT issue out.. I think it maybe a restriction based on my config..

I have a Bell SAGEMCOM Wireless Modem and LAN out to a ASUS AC68U in AP mode. this has created a Double NAT error and the major impact when I use Apple's "Back to My Mac" feature to manage my other Macs at different location.

when I connect directly to the Bell modem.. I still have a Double NAT but at least BTMM starts up and once in a while I can see my other systems.. the problem is I get half the Bandwidth Speed.. via the ASUS in 5G in AP mode I get literally double speed when testing on Speed Test..

I have tried everything.. no luck. has anyone in this config got Back to My Mac" to work ?

or has anyone been able to remove this Double NAT ?.. Apple has confirmed based on a submitted trace that this s the issue

Yes, as Steve suggests, use Bridge mode on the Bell.

I am assuming you are using a Bell Sagecomm 2864 and that you're in Canada, using a Fibe connection? If so, you will want to look at this thread at DSL Reports: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26578205-How-to-put-Sagemcom-2864-in-bridge-mode-

Evidently, there's a solution, but it's not easy, because Bridge mode settings for that modem are locked and Bell Canada won't give out the password to modify the settings. Try this thread for some other possible solutions (also from DSL Reports): http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27648656-Internet-Unlocking-Sagemcom-2864

If none of those suggestions work, see if you can get a different modem, one that you can set to Bridge, so that you can use the Asus as your principal router, or perhaps just a stand-alone modem only that you can then set up your Asus behind without going through a lot of silly gyrations.

There are some other workarounds if you really have to use the Sagecomm. Check out these articles: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm

https://www.udemy.com/blog/double-nat/

You're also certainly not the first person who has had issues with Bell Sagecomm's and bridge mode. It's even more complicated if you have IP phone service as well.

I often visit Toronto, and every time I'm there, I'm just stunned at how inflexible both Rogers and Bell are....They make TWC in the US look pretty good.

There shouldn't be a double NAT condition if the Asus is really in AP mode.
If the cable from the modem is plugged into the WAN port on the Asus, try moving it to a LAN port.
