Error setting opendns for individual IP?

Hi all, I'm not sure what I did wrong. I tried to set opendns as dns for a single ip so I went to LAN->DHCP->Manual Assign IP around DHCP, selected the ip of the device from the list, click on 'edit' and enter the ip of opendns in the 'dns server' field (it was 'default') then click 'OK'. It said "192.168.55.150 is not a valid IP address". What did I miss? TIA!

Without any other information about your setup my guess would be that it's objecting to the IP address of the device rather than the DNS server. Check that the device IP is within the subnet shown at the top of that page (or on the LAN - LAN IP page).

Is that client on a guest network? If so the manual assignment needs to be done from the guest network area. If it is Guest Network Pro.

Thanks for the reply. The top part said 192.168.50.2 to 254. The list show different IP from different subnets from the different networks. Am I supposed to change the starting/Ending address together with the assignment to that ip?

Yes, clients are on different guest networks. Yes, it worked by assigning openDNS for the whole guest network, but I thought we can assign it on a single IP from LAN->DHCP where the device IP are listed (with DNS originally set to default.)

No, don't change the start/ending address. This page is only for your main LAN network (192.168.50.x). For devices on a guest network do as @bbunge said.

Thanks. What I was confused was that my devices from different guest networks (192.168.50.x, 192.168.52.x, 192.168.53.x etc...) all showed up under that LAN->DHCP page with DNS as "default" and each individual IP can be edited but then I got "invalid IP" when clickec on OK.

Yes, confusing...
Go into the guest network settings. Look for "Advanced Settings" then "Manually Assign IP around the DHCP list." There is where you can set the DNS Server for a client in the Guest Network.

Thank you all! I got it now. In the Network->Adv settings->Manually. While Network->adv settings->dnsserver is for the whole network.
I wanted to assigned to a single device so I can test out OpenDns. Thank you again for the help!
