Might be caused by your award winning firewall

nslookup should use DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf, possible that with killswitch enabled all queries will be dropped if there is no 127.0.0.1 entry in there.
Unless you can nslookup other domains than 'amdahl.com', then it's your firewall.

even without a firewall and default settings, also different VPN's including mullvad with is discontinued support for open vpn next month, So unless I see a way to bind outbound traffic on Wireguard. I'm really not sure at this point. My ISP is blocking outbound connection from vpn to local unbound dns. not much i can do but use dns provided by vpn

VPNMON-R3 lets you bind your Unbound to your VPN/WG tunnel to get around your ISP restrictions. Not all VPN providers support this, like NordVPN. But it does work with AirVPN and ProtonVPN. Not sure about Mullvad.

Ohhh... now I see what all the fuss is about. It's like a tiny hidden gem in the unbound_manager.sh code...

EDIT: Submitted a pull request with a fix. It seems mostly cosmetic.

He used a random domain to check Unbound functionality, and would display an error if resolution failed. Well, it failed because the domain no longer resolved. Someone probably forgot to pay their bill.
