Firmware update successful but it doesn't update

I have a AX-58U that's been on merlin for a while. It's currently on 386.7. Whenever I try to update, the bar fills and says it's successful and that I need to manaually reboot the router. After it reboots, it's still on 386.7.

This issue started back when 386.7_2 was released, but I wasn't too worried about it then. Now 388.1 is doing the same. Should I just factory reset and flash again?

The massage comes automatically after some time of lost connection to the router. It's an Asus update bug and by rebooting the router manually you interrupt the update process. Unplug all your USB attached devices, reboot the router, start updating and wait longer. Watch the LED lights.
