Flickr / YouTube / DSM 5 Workflow?

I currently use an Iomega NAS that has a flicker hot folder built in. Does DSM 5.0 have this also? It seems from the description that Photo Station does this but is it actually a hot folder that starts an upload to flickr and/or youtube as soon as a file hits the folder?

I don't know. But would a vendor like Synology support only Flickr?
I suppose the concept is to store photos/videos on the NAS, and serve them to PCs and mobile clients using freeware from Synology.

Indeed, this has its limits, beginning with the typical residential Internet service being too slow on the upstream.

This isn't about only supporting flickr. It's about being able to create folders that sync to cloud services (Box, Dropbox, Flickr, etc.)

I use flickr as my off site photo storage and YouTube as my offsite video storage. Both offer a large amount of space (1TB for flickr, unlimited for YouTube). If anything tragic happens to my home office (fire, flood, theft) I will not lose a lifetime of memories. I also use my free 50GB of space on Box for all other files that need backing up offsite.
I know I can always back them up manually but I've been doing it automatically for years with my current piece of junk NAS. And after all a NAS is supposed to make things easier.

I was just about to buy a DS214 when I realized this workflow might not work on Synology.

Looking at the pr for DSM5 it sounds like they support it but I want to hear it from a user:

"Optimized multimedia and mobile experience: Tree view of albums and options to share videos and photos to YouTube™ and Flickr® are available for Photo Station."

There's a section on DSM5.. "Beta and new releases".

Also, did you try the on-line demos?

Download/read the user manual?

I'm not going to upgrade to DSM5 until it's a bit older.
I make a habit of that for all products.

I don't want to double post on there but I will if I don't get a response from the other thread.

I did the live demo and I didn't see a way but I think if it's possible then the live demo wouldn't have that functionality available to try

I saw nothing in the manual.

I did see a post about using Python to add the functionality but I think they were referring to DSM4 not 5.

Before I purchased, I had a couple of newbie like pre-sales questions.
I called their Calif. office. Got an immediate polite answer from someone who was obviously highly technical.

So give 'em a ring, and go for pre-sales.
