Go With 1810G 8 port Procurve or Cisco?

Breakingcustom

New Around Here
Anyone here use the new 1810G 8 port ProCurve switch from HP? I've been contemplating buying it, but I can't find anything for reviews.

I'm looking for something manageable (I'm taking Cisco classes), so I can fool around with commands on my own time. I'd buy a Cisco 8 port switch but it seems all the ones they have on their website have gotten horrible reviews on some sites. I'd get a 2960, but there is no need for it for my home network.

I plan on redoing my entire network buy getting a new switch and buying the D-Link 825 (B1) wireless router. Need something to do VPN pass-through.

Or if anyone has any other suggestions on a good manageable switch, let me know.

I have just bought the 1810G 24 port version, got the 1810G 8 port thrown in for free. I haven't had the time to install yet, still waiting for the cabling to be finished, plus I have a 3 month old baby taking up a lot of my time. Will post again after I have tried it out, hopefully next week or 2.

If you are taking cisco classes I would recommend getting a cisco switch. Which one I don't know?

I wanted to get a manageable Cisco switch, but all the reviews I read for their 8 port switches are pretty bad. I know their 2960G's seems to get used wherever I work. I'm an Installation Tech for a communications company. We are a Cisco authorized dealer, but I still can't afford the 2960G with the discount.

I was told the ProCurve should have most of the same commands and they are pretty reliable.
