Good 8 port 1GB switch needed...

My GS608 started to cause issues (slow network performance). I need to get a new one. This time I want one that works and lasts. I'm looking for a reliable 8 port switch that works well with streaming HD.
Is the GS108 an option?

8 ports cost a lot more than two 5 ports gigE.

I have three 5 port ones: Netgear and two Fry's store brand. All work well.
Not so for older 1st gen D-Link and Linksys- both overheated and failed. Perhaps all the 2nd generation consumer 5 port, no matter the brand, are OK.

GS108 is a good switch, great warrant too. I have an HP Procurve 1410-8G, and I love it personally.

if you need a basic unmanaged switch, I have one of these and it has been trouble free for 2 years.
