GT-AC5300 Support

Hey, I'm sure this has come up, but searching through forums is my definition of the 7th layer of Hell. Is the Merlin custom firmware available for the GT-AC5300. Can i just install the RT version? It should be coming in the mail in the next few days, and I've read the existing firmware has a lot of bugs.. I have used Merlin in the past, and i really like it.. I'm hoping that it will be compatable with my new router.

Yeah, I'll be returning it and buying the RT version. I don't want to spend this much money on a device that won't be fully supported down the road.

Ya, kind of a shame Asus is holding back on the GT. Maybe in the future. By then though, maybe the next generation RT and GT will be fully supported. ;)

ASUS probably wont fix there FW since this is a game issue that needs to be addresses with game Mfrs and with the use of Port Address Restricted/Symmetric NAT routers. Game Mfrs needs to step up and fix how they are handling uPnP and interactions with PAR and Symmetric NAT routers for two or more games being played at the same time.

Merlin supports the RT-5300. My friend has one and has it loaded. And we all know that RMerlin did us a favor by adjusting his FW for this issue. o_O

when I have a spare $700 and ASUS fixes the multi console nat issue in stock wrt, or the day merlin supports it whichever comes firsts lol.

Yeah asus could port the fix if they upgrade thier mini upnp to the same one Merlin uses since they use an older version of miniupnp, mabye if the port codel and fq_codel and cake-fq_codel it would make the unit more appealing as well as if the added an option to toggle between HTB and HSFC packet schedulers.

Would be one level. However still, game Mfrs still need to fix there stuff. o_O
