Guest network access

I would like to be able to offer a "guest network", but I would REALLY like for there to be a simple web authentication of some type.

I would want to be able to supply a password that is entered via a webpage when someone accesses the guest network for the first time. That way only people that **I** allow will be using my bandwidth.

Is there any way to accomplish that with my AC66U???

What you are looking for is a capture portal type of setup. That might be possible through an Optware/Entware package, but I don't know for sure.

No one can access your guest network without obtaining the password you assign to the guest network anyway. What's the advantage of a webpage authentication?

Guest Network

It is very simple to change the password (encryption) on your guest network. Change it frequently and you will keep people from accessing your network.

Also consider using the setting to limit access time to the guest networks. I have never used this setting so I don't know if after someone is knocked off your network after their allotted time has passed if they can reconnect.

Finally consider turning your WiFi radios off for all users at the time of day there is no legitimate need for anyone to have access to your network using WiFi.

Guest Network Timer

FYI I had some time today and set the timer on one of my guest network.

At the end of what ever time you set the SSID goes off the air and that particular guest network is gone unless you reset the timer. If you reset the timer you could also at the same time change the password.

This means that you can limit the time an individual or group of people can use a particular guest network. With three guest networks you have many options.
