Guest Network Pro issues on AX86U Pro

Hi all,

I finally made the jump to firmware 3006 and seems like my guest networks have changed a little now. RT-AX86U Pro latest firmware Version: 3.0.0.6.102 34349

I was using GN1 and GN2 for my iot devices with no issues before. Now I’m having issues with my wifi cameras on what used to be GN2 now guest network pro- . Before the update on 3.0.0.4 firmware access intranet was off and was on the same subnet as main LAN. On this GN2 they could not access lan devices and now they can such as the ASUS router GUI and printers.

So far tried guest, iot, and customized with the same results. Setting AP isolated blocks access to devices on that guest network but not to devices on the main LAN.

Weird thing is on a customized guest network on a separate subnet/VLAN the access intranet setting does not work and does not allow me to see or connect to my local devices.

Is it still possible to create a guest network with my Wi-Fi cameras able to access internet, but block their access to main lan, while devices connected to main LAN can still access the cameras?

Thanks.

I would suggest resetting this router to factory defaults followed by re-configuration with the new options available.

No need to factory reset the router. Delete the guest networks and create them anew. Your problem should go away.

This maybe the last solution I try.

I’ve tried deleting and recreating the networks as guest, Iot, and custom but I still cannot connect to the cameras on their own vlan from main LAN. Is this working as intended?

If you have disabled the Guest Network Pro option Use same subnet as main network when setting up the Guest Network Pro Profile then your main LAN clients will NOT be able to access the Guest Network Pro Profile clients. There are a good number of other posts and discussions about using scripting and IPTables rules to allow main LAN traffic to Guest Network Pro Profile clients when one has Use same subnet as main network disabled. See my post here for one example of using /jffs/scripts/firewall-start script file. See more in the following discussions where others are trying to get main LAN access to Guest Network Pro Profile clients:
