GX-D1081 V3 Desktop Switch

I'm looking for advice/opinions on adding a GX-D1081 in order to add additional LAN ports.

I have the RT-AC87U and it comes with 4 x RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for LAN. I'm trying to run Cat6 as much as possible and I would like to expand the number of available ports. Would adding an 8 port 10/100/1000mbps desktop switch affect anything? I wonder if the switch would slow things down? The switch would basically sit right beside the router.

The switch will be fine, there will be no measurable performance hit.

Myself I have two small switches at home: one in my room, and one near my HTPC/surround system.
