Please help on a edgemax poe router, I thought imknew something about networkin butnobviously I dont please help me configure this thing, I am really confused on everything!

Hi there.
Ok . . . so the ERL is quite a few steps above a basic SOHO router. The intended target audience is really IT professionals (someone working with a WISP that has an MCSE, Network+, CCNA cert). If you can figure it out, it can be worth it. Or it could just be overkill. Before you do anything beyond this point, some more information would help tremendously. What is your current network layout/topology. A little backstory on this project would go a long way. Finally, what are your goals here?

In addition there are a few things you need to do/read

1. Update the device to version 1.4:

2. Read this:

3. Read this too:

4. Read this as well:

5. Read this and follow the instructions to the letter:

6. Make an account here:

Finally . . .
Good luck,
Have fun!

Hi migueln, Cloud200 has already given you several good references. In version 1.4.0 there is a basic SOHO wizard that should get you up and going quickly. If you have further question please ask them on community.ubnt.com forum.

What I want is dual wan
firewall enabled and I will tell you with ports are required, pptp server, openvpn setup, dyndns setup one dhcp and every other port only part of the dchp config as a switch, so basically that is all I need.

best regards.

MN.

You will have some work to do with this router. And I don't think there is any hand holding way to help you with this.

But I'll try :

1. with existing working internet connection, download this on your PC :
http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/ER-e100-v1.4.0.build4632200.tar

2. If not on factory default already, do a hard reset on the Edrouter by pressing 15 seconds in the little reset hole while the router is powered ON.

Connect PC to the eth0 port. And manually configure the IP 192.168.1.100, subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.1.1 and your windows settings.

In browser, acees the adress 192.168.1.1 and connect with user : ubnt and pasword : ubnt.

At the bottom, clic on "System", and then at the bottom, clic on upload a file under "Upgrade system image".

Go select the file ending by ".tar" you just downloaded.

cary on with the process and let the router do its thing.

Once it is complete. REconnect to the same adress, user/pass. and go in the Wizard tab at the top right.

clic on the link under Setup Wizards at the left and carry on with the process, follow instructions.

From there, it is pretty basic. You can do the usual thing in the wizard tab without ever worying about the other stuff.
