Help Connecting Node

I have an AX88U Pro on the latest version 3006.102.6 and I also have an AC86U and would like to use it as a node to extend my wifi signal.
I am not able to make the node connect at all. I have tried using an Ethernet cable, also via wireless and placing the routers next to each other. It just won't connect.

Is this because of the firmware version difference?
I have reset the AC86U multiple times and start the setup over as a Node, but it just won't connect to the main router.
Any ideas?

Make sure you do a hard factory reset on the node: https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1039078/
After reset do not try to log in to the AC86U to set it up!
With an Ethernet cable connect to a router LAN port and the node WAN port. No switch between!
Firmware difference should not matter but the AC86U should be on Asus 3.0.0.4.386_52294. It will also work with the last Merlin for that model but the Asus firmware is newer.
However, you would be better off with an Asus AX class node.
