New Around Here
I wonder if you NAS gurus might be able to shed some light on a problem that I am having with my newly purchased D-Link DNS-321.
The NAS is working perfectly with one exception - the installed harddrive never spins down. I have installed the latest firmware (v1.01), enabled Power Management, and tested the NAS in three configurations: no Ethernet cable attached to the DNS-321, an Ethernet cable attached between the DNS and a Linksys router that is powered ON, and the same with the Linksys Powered OFF. No joy.
Neither D-link support nor their knowledge base has any information on my symptom.
The installed drive is a Western Digital WD5000AAKS. (Does anyone have this drive in a DNS-321 that either successfully or unsuccessfully spins down?)
I'd appreciate any assistance on how I can determine whether my problem is in the DNS-321, in the WD5000AAKS, or is just the way the beast works.
Thanks for any assistance,
Robert
