Help in boosting multimedia wifi access

Hi All,

I'm new here in the forums, but I need some help on my network.

History and set up:

I have a D-Link DIR-825 set up as my router upstairs. Connected to it is an Iomega Home network media hard drive where all my movies/pictures are stored.

Downstairs in the living room is a Linksys WRT-54G flashed with the latest DD-WRT firmware running as client bridge mode wifi linked to the D-link 2.4 channel. A Netgear EVA8000 is then connected to the Linksys. The EVA8000 is set up as wired and it calculates around 6mbps on the network test. Good enough for watching videos.

NOW my problem:

I couldn't leave well enough alone and decided to flash the D-Link with the latest firmware (1.12 NA). After several days where I couldn't even connect the 2 routers, I finally have the connection as what I had before. But, the EVA8000 now calculates a 1mbps on the network test (Arghhh!).

Could someone help me here on giving me tips in how to increase throughput. The D-link is running pretty much on factory default (except for the internet settings). The DD-WRT is also pretty much running on factory default.

I also sent this to the D-link forums, but so far no help yet.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I set both the D-link and DD-Wrt to send only G in the 2.4Ghz band.

Any suggestions?

Which hardware version of 825 are you using? Also is that still under protection policy with D-LINK offers USA 1 year? But it seems it's working.. Are you jitter or out of audio or video sync issues when watching media? Sending media over wireless G can work but can be tricky to get it to run smoothly.

This wireless G using WDS (wireless client bridge) running DD-WRT.

Hi,

The version is the A1. It still works but something happened between ver 1.01 and 1.12 firmware that the DD-WRT didn't like and thus the EVA now shows 1Mbps. (don't know about the protection thing. I'm not in the US anymore, but I did buy it in the US).

So are you having issues if so what type?

Summary:

D-link (with NAS) firmware 1.01 connected via bridge to WRT54G(DD-WRT) -> EVA8000 (LAN). EVA reports a speed of 6 Mbps

D-link firmware 1.12 same configuration as above. EVA now reports a speed of 1 Mbps.

Need tips on improving the speed.
