Help! Just got N66U and the WAN speed is capped at 35Mb!!

I recently got a new internet connection that's capable of 150/10. My old router couldn't handle it so I went out and bought this router.

I immediately tried a couple of speed test and the cap is at 35-40Mbs. Why is that? I thought this router is capable of at least 150?

I completely turned off wifi radio. I'm using LAN only. I've connected my computer to the modem and did a speed test and the speed is correct at 150/10. Then I unplugged my computer and plugged it into the internet port of the router, then plug my computer into one of the LAN port of the router. Did a speed test and I got 40/10.

I've made sure QOS is off. HW acceleration in switch control is on. Is there anything else I overlooked?

I'm using 3.0.0.4.270. I also see that on ASUS website there are two different firmware, which one should I use?

I found that if I turn qos on I'll get 45Mbs and if turn it off I'll get 35Mbs....so it's not hardware for sure...

I had the same issue when I first plugged in this router. I have 3 older 10é100 dlink switches attached and only got 30-35mb through the switches. Directly wired to the router I received my full speeds, as I did on wireless.

I turned off hardware acceleration and QoS still no luck.

A day later I cycled the spanning tree option and it seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, how do I go about cycling the spanning tree? And which firmware should I be using to do that?

I am running 3.0.0.4.372.30_2 Merlin build.

Its in LAN --> Switch Control --> Spanning Tree Protocol, set to no.

On that page I also have Jumbo Frames set to no and Enable HW Acceleration set to no.

I'm using the same firmware, and set all three to No. But same speed problem.

I assume you tested a direct connection to the modem to make sure you can achieve the maximum internet speed? If not I would start there. Maybe your PC has an issue with a driver or something.
