Home Network Setup

Andrew French

New Around Here
Hi,

I'm looking to sort out my home network and build a decent secure setup which I have more control and understanding over.

I would like to have a a well covered wireless network with 2.4 and 5ghz, a wired network for a NAS, Smart TV, and consoles and a separate network for a VPN (SlickVPN) for torrents and NZBs. I have an OpenWRT router, and 2 additional routers, plenty of home plugs and a wifi extender.

Would really appreciate any input on the best way to start setting this up and any suggestions welcome!

What I have availble:

CURRENT Setup

Kitchen

PlusNet VDSL (apx 25-30mbps) Connection
PlusNet One Hub (BT Home Hub 5) - 2.4 and 5ghz wifi
HomePlug_1 LAN

Lounge
Samsung Smart TV (WIFI 5GHZ)
RPI3 - Wifi
PS2 Console (HomePlug_2 LAN)

Bedroom
Desktop PC WIFI Adapter

Laptops
Dell Win10 Laptop WIFI
MAcbook Air WIFI

Setup as NAS / Home Server / Win 10 box
HPN40L
- not setup, want to use EXSI and install VMs for Free NAS or XPEnology, Win 10, etc
This can be setup next to the TV, but I'm thinking to put it near the Router

SPARE
TP-Link W8980 - VDSL Router 2.4 & 5g (use as Main?)
Plusnet One Hub (Open WRT/LEDE) (Use as main)
HomePlug_3
HomePlug_4
TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT AV500 Wi-Fi Extender

Thanks for your help,
Andy
