Homeplug Dishnetwork question?

dhuston99

New Around Here
Moving into a new house this week and the room I am planning on putting my office in doesnt have a phone line for my dsl connection. Dont really want to run a phone line to the room as it is a rental house. I am probaly going to use a homeplug adapter from the dsl modem to my wireless router. My question is if I have the ethernet plugged in to the homeplug at the modem (before the router) would i be able to get ethernet at my dish network receiver? (the receiver has homeplug built in)

You would, but you don't want to do that unless your ISP account provides you with more than one IP address. You want the Dish receiver to make its connection from the router LAN side.

You can still do this with HomePlug. Get another HomePlug adapter and connect it to a router LAN port. You'll then need to set a HomePlug security code for one of the two networks, i.e. modem to router or router LAN to Dish receiver.
