How is WAN to LAN measured?

New Around Here
Hi,

I have a quick question. What exactly does WAN to LAN throughput measure?

I was looking at the Linksys EA9200 router and it says WAN to LAN is at 761.6Mbps. However, my friend has that router and also has Gigabit Fiber connection at his house and, on speedtest.net, he consistently gets results of over 900Mbps in download. What am I missing?

Thank you.

The EA9200 was tested with this process using IxChariot.

I don't know what SpeedTest.net uses to test or why it yields a higher number.
