I would like to know how to set up the AC-5300 vpn client to connect to a fortinet router. from the pc and apple phone i use forticlient to connect, but from the router how can i do it?
thanks in advance for the support.
1. On your router connected to the Internet assign your second router a static IP that will be used for the VPN router's WAN IP. This static IP must be in the DHCP range of the first router's LAN.
2. On the router to be used for the VPN set it to get its WAN IP automatically. It will get the IP you set for it in step 1.
3. Set the LAN IP and DHCP range for the VPN router to a different subnet than used on the first router. For example if you first router's subnet and DHCP range was 192.168.1.0/24 you could set your VPN router to use 192.168.2.0/24 for it LAN.
4. Run a cable from any LAN port on router 1 to the WAN port on your VPN router.
5. Restart both routers and then go into the VPN router using a device connected by Ethernet or WiFi to the VPN router and configure the VPN client.
Consider that the fortinet router I cannot modify and touch, only the asus I can do what I need. From my pc and mobile I connect using FortiClient app or program, any other solution/idea?

Either skip step 1 or in the WAN setup for the VPN router instead of the procedure I suggested for step 2 assign a static IP instead of using automatic. If you assign a static WAN IP it must be in the subnet of the LAN IPs assigned by the first router.
