How to format new USB drive

So for the first time I am looking install add-ons. I put in a USB 3 flash drive into my router and it shows, how do I best format it
and should I use USB 3 or 2?

Use AMTM to format drive using ext4.

What model router?

If it's the only USB3 device attached to the router put it in the USB3 socket for maximum performance. I'm assuming you're asking because your router has a mixture of USB2 and USB3 ports.

SSH into the router and run amtm. Select fd (format disk).
