How to setup OpenVPN so host names on LAN work?

I've setup OpenVPN (using OEM firmware .4561) and it works with some problems. When connected using a Mac, I can't see any of the machines on the LAN to which I've established the VPN connection (through my router running the OpenVPN server). That is, when I open Finder and try to connect to a NAS on the LAN by name, it is not found. However, if I attempt to connect to the same NAS by the local IP address on the LAN, that works. I'm guessing this has something to do with some server (WINS?) not being "pushed" to the VPN client (my Mac)? I'm just guessing based on the search results I've found, I don't have expertise in this area. I've been updating a previous post that has become stale and the subject line is no longer relevant to the problem (in case this does look familiar - and there have been no replies to that stale thread). Thanks.
