HP DV6-3033cl weak WiFi signal

Hi, So I just refurbish a HP DV6-3033cl laptop. The WiFi signal is nowhere near as good as my Dell Vostro 1000. Now the HP has a metal cover and I was wondering if it was interfearing with the signal. Can I replace the antenna with a better gauge? The HP has a Broadcom 4313 bgn wlan.
