HPNA 2.0 mix and match

I've got a Linksys HPRO200 router receiving ethernet from the main DNS server at work and sending signal out to 2 Linksys HPB200 bridges. All the computers are getting internet access just fine. The problem is I can't get the router to pass IP addresses...wants to be a DCHP server....through from the company server so the computers can't be connected to the domain. Every time I disable DHCP it kills my internet connection. I've been looking for another Linksys bridge but can't find any. I have found some Netgear and Sendtek bridges. Will they work with my Linksys bridges? I've never tried mixing and matching HPNA gear.

If all the products are HPNA certified, then they should interoperate.

But I'd get rid of the HPNA gear. Why invest in a slow, dead technology?
Get rid of the router and replace the adapters with HomePlug AV powerline adapters.

It's a company network, there's nothing but copper between the 3 buildings, 10M is fast enough and the cost of wireless is way too high because of line of site issues. Plus I have other things I need to get budget for so saving on this project would be really helpful.

I wanted to run a test before ordering any gear. So I replaced the HPRO200 router with one of the HPB200 bridges. I was able to connect to the internet and see my company network but my internet access was painfully slow. Any ideas why the bridge to bridge setup is slower than the router to bridge setup? I switched everything back and my internet speed is fine.

Maybe I shouldn't get another bridge. I could get some HPNA 3.0 bridges and hope that I get better access speed. Or I'll have to shell out for some ethernet extenders but that doesn't seem very cost effective when I'm trying to send signal from one building out to 2 separate locations. I'm stuck working over copper. Thoughts?

Ya. We're currently using some Patton ethernet extenders in another location and they're great. Been looking here and on ebay for some more. I'm waiting for a callback from the HomePNA alliance but they don't seem to be very quick at calling you back. I'm hoping they can help me configure the gear I have now to do what I need rather than buying new stuff but I'm not holding my breath.

That's was the impression I got. They said they were going to have someone call me though, so we'll see. Linksys was less than helpful due to the age of the equipment I'm using so hopefully HPNA is good on their word.

As said above, HPNA and WiFi and WiMax, and and the lot, are industry associations. As ISA, ISO, et al are for standards. Their meager staffs are funded by dues and license fees for their logo. So they can't do much for an individual customer of a product incorporating their standard or endorsement logo.
