I get booted from Xbox/PS3 multiplayer games when in party, please help.

Hi I have an n66u running Merlin .26b (I believe) and whenever I am in a Xbox or ps3 party while playing I will get booted from the game that I am playing (halo, black ops) and my friends in the party will get in the current game no problem while ill be sent back too the lobby. I have open NAT on both consoles so I am unsure what could be causing it. This happens on both the 2.4 and 5ghz band and with my ps3 the party chat can be choppy at times. Any help with this problem is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

First question is does it disconnect you entirely from PSN or just that particular gane lobby? When I had problems an entire PSN disconnect implied a lost network connection, but if it stayed connected and just lost that particular party/lobby, then it was a upnp issue.

1) I would initially try a physical connection if possible - this will eliminate if its a wireless or routing issue.

2) Are you using upnp for the connection? If so, there may be some value in either

(a) trying the latest beta firmware (it has an updated upnp)
(b) turning off uPNP and using manual port forwarding

Another easy way to eliminate the uPNP would be to temporarily use the DMZ feature to expose the PS3 directly - that way you can be sure if its the connection (wireless->WAN) or whether its something to do with the NAT on the PS3.

Thank you for the response, it never completely kicks me from PSN network just the lobby that I would play in when in a group so I do believe it is indeed a uPnP. Because when I am playing alone I rarely get booted. I am going too update now too see if it helps at all.

After you log in to your router look on the left of the page. Advanced Settings
> WAN > Virtual Server / Port Forwarding> Famous Game List select xbox live. Now on the local IP drop down menu just select the IP that is your xbox. If you do not know your xbox IP go to settings>system>network settings select wired or wireless depending on what you are using to connect. your ip adress will be there.
