Internal or external?

Looking to get a 11n router, from what I understand they use multiple antennas to improve performance, but then now they are shipping internal one's... so what does that mean? Would an external one still have better signal? What are the advantage and disadvantage of them? I don't particular care how they look.

My testing has found that internal vs. external antennas make little difference in router performance.
