I read so many posts that seem to say that a LOT of people pay less for more than I can get here in California.
$40-50 per month, cable modem, 19Mbps down, 0.9Mbps up, per speedtest every day always, best host server.
Cable modem or DSL, we pay by the speed grade. I can get faster, but the price increase makes it "not worth it".
We may not be unique in having post de-regulation essential monopolies: One cable modem provider per region. One DSL operator with a token competitor trying to resell (AT&T's) infrastructure. Dry-DSL- Ha! forget it. Fiber? Ha, maybe 2% of homes. Hybrid fiber/ADSL (U-Verse) - get serious, it's a silly attempt to do 10's of megabits on ancient copper pairs.
Now I do say that what I have works good enough, if not a good value, in comparison.
Is it just us (US)?
