Issue with Asus rt-ac66u wan renew

I have the rt-ac66u running Merlin 376.47 and I m having an issue with the wan connection. It will lose its wan dhcp address (on a cable modem on a Motorola surfboard) and can't renew. If I pull the Ethernet cable and reseat it, the address renews.

The ISP can't see a problem when its in this state and they see an address on the modem.

Any thoughts?

Still a problem after adding another router in between

I added another router in between the cable modem and the router and I am having the same problem so its definitely an issue with the RT-AC66U.

No change for me. I tried upgrading to 376.48_3 but the results are the same.
