Just bought a DSL-N66U, having some connection problems

Hi, yesterday I bought an Asus DSL-N66U. It seems to work almost perfectly but one or two of my wireless devices seems to have trouble. I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to routers.

All computers connected via cables work fine, my ipad works fine wireless, my iphone sometimes works, my mums ipad sometimes works, but her PC never works, it either doesn't see the network (wirelessly) or does but is "limited" (Windows 8).

Can someone help me out troubleshooting this? All router settings are at the default. I ran the quick setup guide and use the BT Infinity preset since its te only one (I don't use BT Infinity but I have a BT line, and it seems to almost work perfectly).

Any and all help appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have the latest version of the firmware? If you updated the firmware, did you reset the router to factory defaults and then manually and minimally setup the router to secure it and connect to your ISP?

Did you try leaving the router off and disconnected from the ISP for 30 minutes to an hour?

Are the ssids hidden? Do you have special characters in the ssid or the password?

Did you use a new ssid or did you re-use your previous one?

Depending on your answers above;

I suggest creating a new ssid (one for each band), hard reboot the router (physically remove the power plug while it is running) and associate each device with the router again.

Reset the router to factory default settings as indicated on the first paragraph.

Before doing any of the above, simply leave the router unplugged for at least 30 minutes or more.

OK here is what I did, I left the router off all night, then i updated the firmware, then I restored it to factory settings.

I now have the correct preset for my internet in the quick setup thing (Plusnet Fiber Broadband). However, it was pure luck it seems me getting this to work, because now it doesn't and I don't know what to do. I have switched back over to the router my ISP game me to reply.

I don't know if the utilities on the disc are important, but if I try to run the router setup wizard it keeps saying two or more ethernet cables detected, please just connect one. It always says that, no matter how many I connect, so hopefully that setup wizard isn't needed.

About the ssid's, I don't know how to change them so they are at their default name. The only special character is one single "-" in the name.

When you left the new router off all night, did you connect the ISP's router in the meanwhile? Was the modem (if you have a separate one) disconnected and unpowered for all that time too?

No :/ I used the other modem and router during that time. Should I have left everything disconnected?

Yes. The ISP connection needs to 'reset' itself too.

Whether this will fix your issues remains to be seen, but without trying, you won't know.

Well, I completely gave up and was going to send this modem back, but when I connected it one last time to look at the log it just worked, perfectly. I didn't change a single setting, strange.

Does this log look ok?
